A study on the status of fodder balance in Himachal Pradesh

Abstract

The study was aimed at estimating the fodder balance in Himachal Pradesh. Stratified mulistage random sampling technique was used for sample selection. The result showed that average land holding size was 2.40 ha and average number of livestock per household was 5.80. The survey indicated the overall deficit of 32% of fodder requirement of which deficit was 13% in case of grasses, 14% in cases of tree fodder and 55 per cent for straw.
