Current problems of Nepal protected areas

Abstract

In the past, Nepal has participated in several major conferences on the environment. These were: the first international conference on the Rational Use and Conservation of the Resources of the Biosphere in 1968 in Paris; the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, known as the Stockholm Conference, in 1972, the United Nations Conference on Environment (Earth Summit) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1992; and the World Summit on Sustainable Development, Johannesburg, 2002. With a close commitment to international conventions and treaties, Nepal has shown its keen interest in the sustainable management of natural resources.
